Our Review
Cachuma Lake served as our home base for exploring Solvang, Santa Barbara, and Channel Islands National Park (via Ventura). It was a nice hub that was within an hour drive of everything we wanted to see and do.
This definitely had an RV park feel. Spaces were stacked in together — not the closest spacing we’ve seen but not overly generous (probably about average).
Amenities
Since we were using the RV park as a home base for daily exploration, we didn’t do much in the park itself. The sites included basic amenities like a picnic table and of course hookups for power, water, and sewer.
The RV park had some additional amenities but we can’t comment on them as we didn’t use anything beyond our site. Also, Cachuma Lake has things to do that we didn’t explore (although human contact with the water is apparently disallowed).
Site and Access
The sites were relatively level and had concrete pads. The pads seemed pretty old and were in not great shape. Our pad had some significant cracking and heaving — the worst of which somebody had tried to fix with duct tape.
Getting to the RV Park was pretty easy. One warning though — after the entry gate there is a curb that is easy to hit with trailer wheels. We turned just a bit too early and got our wheels onto the curb and it was clear we weren’t the first to do that.
Our site was at the end of the loop which made getting in a little difficult. Most of the sites seemed easier to maneuver into than ours.
